Dieci: The Ron Francis Project Remembers "Ron Francis Night" (January 28th, 2006)
![]()
I know I said in both of my blogs, Blogspot
and LiveJournal,
that I was going to do a write-up about what was one of the biggest nights
for not only Ronnie Francis himself, but also nutty fanatics of him like moi.
But, as most of you dear readers and/or friends of mine know, I *have* to be
different. So therefore, in addition to showing off what little of my pictures
turned out pretty good (And we are talking about *little*…I had to borrow some
pictures from a couple of sites. Of course, I’ll give credit where needed to
those.), I decided to sum up the evening with a song, which is quite appropro as
much of a music aficionado as I am.
Ever since 2003, at least, the following song is one that I felt would suit Ron Francis Night incredibly well whenever such an event finally came along. All it needed was a change in lyrics here and there so that the song would be more about the retirement of one of the Canes AND NHL’s all-time greats instead of the tearing down of the Berlin Wall. Not to mention how it is by the Scorpions, the notorious ones behind the Canes’ anthem, “Rock You Like A Hurricane”. So, without any further ado…

A Raleigh winter night
Whales and Pens stop by
Listening to the wind of change
The league is looking in
Did you ever think
That we all be so close, like brothers

We can feel it everywhere

in the wind of change
Taking
a glance back
Distant memories
Are buried in the past forever
